Shomaisou Recommends The Core Vaccines (distemper, parvovirus and rabies) + Bordetella and Heartworm *

10 Weeks Old: Distemper + Parvovirus, Modified Live Virus (MLV)

15 Weeks: Same as above

18 Weeks: Parvovirus only, MLV

20 Weeks: Bordetella (This is internasal, we give it ourself)

30 Weeks or 6 months (as allowable by law): Rabies

(Rabies never given within 2 weeks of any other vaccination. Consider pretreating with Thuja and Lyssin, to help blunt any adverse effects of the rabies vaccine).

Every 30-45 days - Use monthly Heartworm Preventatives or we use Proheart 6 for dogs under a year and Proheart 12 for year round heartworm protection.

We avoid giving combination 5-way, 7-way and especialy 10-way vaccines to our dogs at any age. The combination vaccines usually contain a cocktail of "core" distemper and parvovirus vaccines, plus 3 - 8 "optional" vaccines. The optional vaccines should NEVER be given at the same time as the above vaccines.

Contracts signed after 03/01/2021, Over Vaccination will void our Health Guarantee.

Over Vaccination, especially giving Rabies too early with another vaccine has resulted in Champing Fits in Shiba Inu.

Optional Vaccines (In consultation with your veternarian for your area)

Influenza, Lepto or Lyme (not together with or within 2 weeks of any other vaccine)

Shomaisou does not vaccinate for Influenza, Lepto or Lyme. Consult with your local veterinarian to make decision on vacinatiing for Influenza, Lepto or Lyme.

We use a natural flea/tick treatments such as:

1 Year: Distemper + Parvovirus, MLV (optional = titer)

1 Year after the initial dose: Rabies, killed 3-year product (give 3-4 weeks apart from Distemper/Parvovirus booster). Consult Rabies Challenge Fund.

We live in a county that allows for submitting a rabies titer instead of new vaccination. Check your local laws.

Perform vaccine antibody titers for Distemper and Parvovirus every three years thereafter, Vaccinate for rabies virus according to the law, rabies antibody titer recommended if allowed by your local laws.

Treating Adverse Vaccine Reactions

Detox (Thuja and Lyssin methods). Source these from a reputable supply and the Thuja should be water based (no alcohol) and is taken orally.

Thimerosal-free (mercury free) alternative rabies vaccines

Merial makes IMRAB 3 TF

Fort Dodge makes RABVAC 3 TF

(A thimerosal-free vaccine probably still has thimerosal in it. But because it wasn’t added directly to the vaccine, but used in production, the vaccine manufacturers can claim the vaccine is thimerosal-free). Becasue of that we recommend pre-treatment with the Detox hompopathic remedies using Thuja and Lyssin, to help blunt any adverse effects of the rabies vaccine).

*Beginning 7/2021 we will be doing a nomograph on the dam before she gives birth. This may change the date of the first vaccination, but spacing between the core vaccinations will stay the same.
